The under tack show for the Fasig-Tipton Texas 2-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age Sale was held on Sunday afternoon at Lone Star Park, and a pair of juveniles breezed an eighth-mile in :10 1/5 to share the fastest time at the distance.
Tying for the fastest time was hip #78, an Indiana-bred filly by the Unbridled’s Song stallion Irish Road. Consigned by Benchmark Training Center Inc., agent, the April foal is out of the winning Deep Gold mare Nuggets.
A Kentucky-bred colt by Harlan’s Holiday, hip #110, equaled that time. Consigned by Wolf Creek Farm, agent, the January foal is the first out of the Smart Strike mare Smart Music, who is a half sister to Grade 1 winner and millionaire Include.
From a limited number of horses who worked a quarter-mile, hip #17, a Texas-bred filly by the state’s all-time leading sire Valid Expectations clocked :23 flat for the fastest time. Offered by Brody Veal, agent, and named Tea for Two, the filly is a full sister to stakes winner Bridesmaid and half sister to Grade 2 winner Postponed.
A total of 138 horses have been catalogued for the sale, which is set for Tuesday at 12 noon on the grounds of Lone Star Park.
