Horse owner Bryan L. Hawk, who several years ago campaigned Grade 3 stakes winner, Code West, has recently acquired a breeding farm in Purcell, Oklahoma, and is now doing business as WestWin Farms.
The farm was owned at one time by AQHA Hall of Famer Frank Merrill and bred a long list of champions at the facility. Hawk said he would love to continue the legacy that Merrill has built and said he will continue with breeding both Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses. Currently at the property, Hawk has 30 mares that he has acquired from both racing and sales.
Hawk raced Code West and Pass The Buck in the midwest region and acquired both horses from Gary and Mary West. The West’s raced such stellar horses as Dollar Bill, West Coast, Family Tree and best known for Maximum Security, who was the winner of the 2019 Kentucky Derby but was disqualified. The relationship between Hawk and the Wests has been profitable.
Code West, a graded stakes winner by Lemon Drop Kid out of the Saint Ballado mare Charitable Donation, is a multiple graded stakes winner. His first foals arrive in 2020. Pass The Buck, winner of the Zia Park Derby, is by Pulpit and out of the mare Windy. Code West will stand for $1,500 S/N and Pass the Buck will stand for $1,000 S/N.
