Robbin Caldwell’s Oklahoma-bred Goodheartedgirl recorded a pair of firsts on Monday at Will Rogers Downs as the daughter of Oklahoma stallion Ellerton picked up her first career stakes win while also becoming the first stakes winner for her sire.

The 4-year-old mare, who was bred by Chuck Bowlan, captured the $55,000 Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs Classic Distaff Sprint Stakes for state-breds with David Cabrera up for trainer Mark Buehrer. She clocked six furlongs in 1:10.39.

Okie Princess, by King of Scat, finished second with Dancing Diva, by Affirmatif, in third.

Although Goodheartedgirl was a consistent runner in her first two years on the track, she is enjoying her finest season yet this year with two wins and a second in three starts at Will Rogers. All told, she has won six times in 15 starts with earnings of $117,017. That also makes her the leading earner for her sire.

Ellerton is a multiple winning son of Silver Deputy who stands at Rockin’ BB Ranch in Tecumseh as property of Danny Caldwell and Bobby Edwards.
