The $200,000 Remington Park Oaks drew nine for the 1-1/16 miles over the main track on Sunday afternoon. The Remington Park Oaks will be contested one race before the Oklahoma Derby.
The first race of the day is at 3pm with the Remington Park Oaks at 7:12pm. All times are Central.
Family Tree is one of only two entrants to the race with experience at Remington Park. She was third in the $100,000 Trapeze Stakes, the top race for 2-year-old fillies, in Decmeber 2015. Since that run, Family Tree has developed into a multiple graded stakes winner and is also stakes placed in one of the top Grade 1 races for 3-year-old fillies.
Owned by Gary and Mary West of Omaha, Neb. and trained by Wayne Catalano, Family Tree won the Grade 3, $200,000 Iowa Oaks in June at Prairie Meadows, followed by the Grade 2, $200,000 Indiana Oaks in July. On the strength of successive graded triumphs, Family Tree ventured to Saratoga in August to compete in the Grade 1, $600,000 Alabama Stakes where she faced superstar Songbird.
Songbird put on her show to win the Alabama by seven lengths with Family Tree finishing third, beaten 8-3/4 lengths. Since that effort, Family Tree has posted successive bullet breezes at Keeneland in Lexington, Ky. before traveling to Remington Park on Wednesday for the Oaks.
Family Tree drew the outside post in the field of nine and has been made the morning-line favorite at 2-1 odds by line-maker Rick Lee. Jockey Rafael Bejarano will have the mount on Family Tree on Sunday, riding her for the first time.
For All The Grands is the other entrant to the Remington Park Oaks with experience in Oklahoma City. She won an allowance race here in August for trainer Scott Young with Belen Quinonez aboard. She has been assigned morning-line odds of 30-1.
Unbridled Mo is the second choice in the morning-line at 3-1 odds by virtue of her victory in the Grade 3, $100,000 Monmouth Park Oaks on Aug. 20. Trained by Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher, Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez will have the mount on Unbridled Mo on Sunday.
