Sam Houston to Host Fundraising Events for Flood Victims

shrp350Sam Houston Race Park will organize a fundraising effort on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23 during live American Quarter Horse racing to assist Houstonians affected by the recent devastating flooding in the area.

The racetrack is located in northwest Houston, just minutes away from two of the areas hit hardest by the recent storms:  Greenspoint and Cypress Creek. Numerous fatalities were reported and thousands of Houstonians have lost their homes, cars and belongings.

“The destructive storm and unprecedented rainfall earlier this week has taken its toll on so many Houstonians,” said Andrea Young, President of Sam Houston Race Park. “We were very fortunate that our facility and stable area was not badly damaged. However, within a ten mile radius, extreme flooding occurred and many area residents and our employees have suffered tremendous losses.”

Sam Houston Race Park will reach out to its staff, horsemen and racing fans this weekend for donations.  All funds will be collected on behalf of the American Red Cross, who have already opened 13 shelters in Houston and need additional funds to assist with the operation of shelters, as well as food and relief supplies.

Sam Houston Race Park is Houston’s premier racing and entertainment facility, located just 15 miles from downtown Houston, and offers a variety of attractions including our Suite Level presented by Draft Kings, The Pavilion Centre, and award-winning dining options at the Winner’s Circle Restaurant and the Jockey Club.
