Nearly 200 Head Consigned to Equine Sales Co.’s Consignor Select Yearling Auction

equinesalessquareA total of 188 head have been consigned to the Equine Sales Company’s Consignor Select Yearling Sale to be held September 2 in Opelousas, Louisiana.

Last year’s Consignor Select Yearling Sale set a record for the auction company with an all-time high gross of $1,782,400, which included a horses of racing age supplement. A total of 135 yearlings were sold last year for $1,475,400 with an average of $10,929.

“The young sire power in this year’s auction is quite impressive,” said Foster Bridewell, sales director for Equine Sales Company. “We have a wide selection of yearlings from some of the most promising first- and second-crop sires in the region, plus plenty on offer from established sires. We also have yearlings by proven national sires as well, including Warrior’s Reward and Into Mischief.

“All the yearlings that go through the ring will be eligible for the new sales stakes at Evangeline Downs, so we hope that brings even more interest to this sale,” Bridewell added.

Last week Equine Sales Company and Evangeline Downs announced a new 3-year-old stakes at the Louisiana track for sale graduates. The first renewal of the stakes, offering divisions for fillies and colts/geldings at $75,000 apiece, will debut in 2016. Graduates of this yearling sale will be eligible for the 2017 running.

The catalogue includes yearlings from the first crops of Star Guitar, Redding Colliery, Astrology, Calibrachoa, Dominus, Rule and Ide Like a Double, and from the second crops of Tizway, Interactif, Paddy O’Prado, General Quarters, Wilburn, Custom for Carlos, American Lion, Tiz the One, Regal Ransom, Archarcharch and Due Date.
