Equine Sales Company has announced a catalog of 214 head for its Consignor Select Yearling Sale set for August 31 at 10 a.m. in Opelousas, Louisiana.
“We have just about the same number of yearlings as we did last year, but I think buyers will notice an increase in the sire power of this catalog,” said Sales Director Foster Bridewell. “This will be the second year that we have joined forces with the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association to promote a single select yearling sale, and the result of that has been a continued increase in quality.”
Among the first-crop sires represented in the sale are Alpha, Apriority, Cross Traffic, Goldencents, Guilt Trip, Itsmyluckyday, Mucho Macho Man, Revolutionary, Shakin It Up and Sum of the Parts. The list of second-crop stallions with progeny in the sale includes Awesome Patriot, Bind, Flashpoint, Fort Larned, Liaison, New Year’s Day, Oxbow, Paynter, Treasure Beach (GB) and Violence.
The top three Louisiana stallions by 2017 progeny earnings—Half Ours, Songandaprayer and Custom for Carlos—all have numerous yearlings on offer.
Graduates of this sale will be eligible to be nominated to the 2019 editions of the Equine Sales Derby and Equine Sales Oaks at Evangeline Downs.
