Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel, in conjunction with the Breeders Sale Company of Louisiana, will host the Stars of Tomorrow 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale on Sunday, March 9, 2014.
The sale will begin at 10 a.m. CST with the Gallop Preview Show scheduled for Saturday, March 8 starting at 12 noon. The sale and the Gallop Preview Show are free to attend and both are open to the public.
Evangeline Downs will offer a pair of six furlong open-bred stakes races for 2-year-olds which will carry a purse of $100,000 each in August 2014. The Evangeline Downs Star will be for colts and geldings while the Evangeline Downs Starlet will feature fillies. The purse of each race includes a $25,000 bonus for horses that are graduates of the sale in March and those horses will be preferred when entries are taken.
“This sale has become a mainstay for the local racing industry and we look forward to it each year at Evangeline Downs,” said Chris Warren, Director of Racing Operations for Delta Downs/Evangeline Downs. “Our facilities include a spacious and comfortable Event Center that is conveniently located next to the racing paddock and our hotel which works nicely for this event.”

The entry fee for the 2-year-olds in Training Sale is $350 with a 5% commission ($300 minimum). The entry deadline is January 13, 2014. Late entries will require a fee of $500 with the same commission fee structure. The sale will once again be administered by Stemmans, Inc.
