Catalogue of 233 Now Online for Equine Sales Company Select Yearling Auction

The catalogue for Equine Sales Company’s Select Yearling Sale is now available online featuring an offering of 233 head. The sale is set to be held September 3 at 10 a.m. in Opelousas, Louisiana.

This year’s catalogue represents a significant increase over the 174 head consigned last year for the auction company’s inaugural select yearling sale. Last year’s auction saw 132 head sell for $1,714,300 with an average of $12,987 and a buy-back rate of just 18 percent. The high-seller at the 2013 sale was an Eskendereya colt for $140,000.

Equine Sales Company held its first ever auction in 2012 with a combined open and select yearling sale. A 2-year-olds in training sale was added to the schedule this year, and the company has an open yearling and mixed sale scheduled for October 26 of this year.

“The 34-percent increase in catalogue size shows that consignors were pleased with the results last year, and we think buyers will be impressed with the quality of this year’s catalog,” said Foster Bridewell, sales director for Equine Sales Company. “We have progeny of more than 100 stallions in the sale with a good mix of top Kentucky stallions and a long list of leading Louisiana stallions.”
