Thoroughbreds continue to arrive at Remington Park in preparation for the 2017 season that begins Aug. 25. The horses on property will have their first opportunity to train over the main track, later this week.

Morning training was slated to begin on July 25. However, situations arose forcing a delay in the process of getting the track ready for horses.

“The track was originally scheduled to open Tuesday, July 25,” said Matt Vance, Remington Park vice president of operations. “However, due to unforeseen circumstances with the shipping of new material for the composition of the race track, there will be a delay of a few days while renovations are completed. Track superintendent Bobby Blackburn and his crew are working their best to have the surface ready for training as soon as possible.”

Remington Park is hopeful the necessary renovations will be finished by the end of the week, if not sooner, allowing the morning training of horses to begin.
