Trainer Wins Memorial Race for His Soldier Son on Independence Day at Arapahoe Park

Trainer Ken Danyluk won the Kerry Danyluk Memorial on Independence Day at Arapahoe Park, a race named for his son who died in Afghanistan this year, with Lil Rich Girl. United States Marine Corp Combat Logistics Battalion 453 from Buckley, Colorado, joined the Danyluk family in the winner’s circle. The marines also participated in a Fourth of July tribute with Sara Shvartzman, who sang the national anthem and “God Bless America.”

U.S. Army Specialist Kerry Danyluk, who was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart, died on April 15. His father trained both the winner and the third-place finisher, Tm Maddamee, in the one-mile race for Arabians.
