Each year, Horseshoe Indianapolis earmarks donations to equine specific causes in Central Indiana. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Mounted Patrol is currently working on a relocation site for their horses and headquarters and Horseshoe Indianapolis provided a $10,000 toward the cause.

IMPD Mounted Patrol is a vital service in Central Indiana, providing crowd control and added support to all types of functions. The unit has been active since 1983 and will be moving to a permanent location on the near west side of Indianapolis. Funding is crucial for the move, and Horseshoe Indianapolis, a longtime supporter of the IMPD Mounted Patrol, wanted to assist in their relocation efforts.

“Horses are close to our heart,” said Tim DeWitt, security shift manager for racing. “Anytime we get the opportunity to support equine causes in our area, it’s very rewarding to be able to assist. I was very proud to represent Horseshoe Indianapolis with this donation to the Indy Mounted Patrol.”

Matt Vassar, Director of Security at Horseshoe Indianapolis along with DeWitt were guests at the sixth annual Thanksgiving Breakfast with a Cop 2022. The official donation was made to Sgt. Tyneka Sperry, supervisor of IMPD’s mounted patrol unit.

“The breakfast was very good, and I really appreciate everything they’re doing to help law enforcement,” said Vassar. “The IMPD Mounted Patrol is an extremely valuable asset for the citizens of Indianapolis. As a former Indianapolis Police Officer, I have personally observed the excellent work that they do for the community.”
