Stradivarius produced yet another incredible performance to win the Doncaster Cup for the second time.
The Superstar stayer owned by John and Thady Gosdenhas dominated in recent campaigns, with his rich resume including success at Royal Ascot with three Gold Cups, four Goodwood Cups, two Yorkshire Cups, and three Lonsdale Cups.
With the seven-year-old’s biggest rival Trueshan missing this potential encounter on account of unsuitable pitch, Stradivarius was the favorite to successfully defend his crown on Town Moor – and the eventual outcome was not in doubt.

“I never had to hit him with my stick, he did everything himself. He was really enjoying it and was full of enthusiasm. Long may it continue.”
In the same vein, Doncaster Cup champion Stradivarius could head to ParisLongchampor Ascot next as trainer John Gosdenput away any notion of impending retirement.
The stayer landed another huge title at the St Leger Festival a few days ago, given a solid ride by Italian Frankie Dettori.
Both JohnGosden and Frankie Dettori spoke of Stradivarius’ continued zeal for the game and will now make a decision between Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup and Prix du Cadran.

“He’s had a great season. He’s won three out of four. Frankie’s ride in the Gold Cup wasn’t his greatest. The winner was mighty impressive and the sad thing for me in the year is that we couldn’t run at Goodwood, because he adores Goodwood.
“His enthusiasm is there 100 percent and I can assure everyone who loves him, the moment it’s not there he will be retired. Until that day comes, which he will tell us, he will race.”
On the options of autumn, Gosden said: “There are two races – the Cadran and Ascot (Long Distance Cup). Ascot last year was heavy and he hated it. Those are the options. It will be one, not both.
“He’ll go on summer soft but not when it goes autumn deep. He cannot take it. It was a mistake to run him in it last year and in the Arc.
“He lives a bit on the edge. He lets us know what he wants. I’ve always adored stayers and to train him is a dream come true.”
