Equine Sales Company kicked off its first ever 2-year-olds in training and horses of racing age sale with a breeze show on Saturday morning in Opelousas, Louisiana. The auction is set for Monday, April 28, at the company’s sales facility at 12 noon. A total of 92 horses were consigned to the sale.
Three Louisiana-bred fillies by Big Top Cat, Half Ours and Doneraile Court worked an eighth-mile in :10 3/5 to tie for the fastest time at the distance. Hip #6, a Big Top Cat daughter named Big Top Dollar consigned by 5 B Farm LLC, is out of the Group 3-placed Rahy mare Rosehearty and is a full sister to stakes winner Lexi’s Love. Hip #26, a Half Ours filly named Winning Answer consigned by Twin Oaks Training Center, agent, is out of the stakes-winning Peteski mare Answer to Me and is a half sister to stakes winner Sports Town. 5 B Farm also consigned hip #70, a Doneraile Court filly named Predefined, whose dam has produced two winners from as many starters.
The fastest time at a quarter-mile was posted by hip #18, an unnamed Louisiana-bred colt by Smooth Air consigned by Boutte’ Sales, agent. The colt, who is a half brother to stakes winner Tricky Etbauer, breezed the distance in :21 4/5.
